Henry Norman letters to Samuel Sidney McClure [manuscript]

Letter 1: Norman writes that he has sent twenty-four copies plus the one enclosed of "The Capital of Korea." Norman wishes that it be announced in the paper that he is off for Tonquin and Siam, en route for Burma. He adds that the letter may appear at once, that is in three or four days, " just time enough to let it get away across the Atlantic." Letter 2: 1885 June 29. Henry writes that McClure's two notes came together in the same mail. For three months Norman did not hear from McClure, in spite of frequent requests. He writes that he cannot go on with this, and that he will put his work in the hands or someone else. Letter 3: n.d. Norman writes that the packet will arrive on or before June 7th or 8th, which will give McClure a full month to get the "thing" arranged. It will not appear in England before July 31st, possibly later. He continues to discuss the business of photo proofs and news stories. Cheque from Albert B. Brody, treasurer of S. S. McClure and Company, made out to Henry Norman for the amount of $300.00.
